It then crosses over to Addingham on stage 2 of the 2014 Tour de France route and takes you up one final climb up Cringles. A quick descent follows back into Skipton. Cut off at Cracoe at 3.30pm so we can all get to the post event Curry night!!
This year Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice is our designated charity. They provide expert palliative care, advice and support for local people who are living with life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families. This specialist care and support are free to the users but Manorlands needs to raise £2.1 million per year, to keep this essential provision in our local area.
Otley Cycle Races
The Otley Town Centre Races are one of the most prestigious criteriums in the calendar, with past winners including Mark Cavendish, Jeremy Hunt, Jonny Clay, Chris Walker, Russ Downing and in 2011 and 2012, local star Scott Thwaites. Otley’s own World Champion Lizzie Armitstead won the ladies event in 2014!

The Haworth Hobble has been a regular Runfurther event for a long time: it attracts more Runfurther runners than any other event. Its 32 miles follow Yorkshire Pennine paths and tracks from Haworth over the moors to Calderdale, up Stoodley Pike and back to Haworth via Heptonstall and Crimsworth Dean. The views are great, and it’s nearly all runnable apart from the climb up the Pike, provided you’ve got enough left in the tank! This race sorts out who’s taken it easy over the winter with a vengeance.
North Leeds Scouts
The Six Dales Walk takes place on the last Sunday in September and has been held for over 50 years. A challenge for teams (min. 4, max. 7) supported by Scout or Guide Groups, it traverses 42 miles of Yorkshire’s most beautiful countryside.
Trailtrekker is the ultimate endurance challenge. You’ll need to get your team of four 40, 65 or 100km across the Yorkshire Dales in under 30 hours.
The Great Yorkshire Bike Ride
The Great Yorkshire Bike Ride is one of those lucky events, which is all things to all people. It’s a great cycling event, one of the biggest around. It’s a fantastic, beautiful route across the best of Yorkshire. It’s a great day out, and it continues to raise large amounts of money for charity projects. It is also one of very few one-way events rather than the normal circular route. Perhaps that is one of the big attractions, to actually go somewhere. This does make the logistics of the event somewhat harder though!
